We need each other! We are told in Hebrews “to spur one another on toward love and good deed, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching”.

Connect requires us to engage. To engage means to Show-up, to Open-up and to Follow-up.

Why Open-up? To get to know others and to be known by others you must open-up. “Truth is harder than a lie; the dark seems safer than the light; and everyone has a heart that loves to hide. I’m a mess and so are you; we’ve built walls nobody can get through; yeah, it may be hard, but the best thing we could ever do, ever do…Bring your brokenness and I’ll bring mine, ‘cause love can heal what hurt divides and mercy’s waiting on the other side. If we’re honest! Francesca Battistelli’s If We’re Honest CCLI# is 7006197.

To open-up requires trust, so it’s okay to work on building the relationship (showing up) and “ease” into opening-up. Little-by-little, opening-up can cultivate a connectedness that blesses all. How does Follow-up happen? Follow-up is engaging interaction with another. “I noticed that you were especially quiet today”.”I missed seeing you; are you okay?'“ “You mentioned that ____; is there anything I can do? Or can I pray with you?”

Follow-up is an expression of formation from an encounter. It’s an action that nurtures connectedness.
