RESOURCES FOR THE JOURNEY
The Gauges: Port City Discipleship for every person.
Questions. We all have them – especially when it comes to faith and the Bible. That’s why we offer Starting Point, a 9-week small group study that provides some basic information and helps you discover who God is and what Christianity is all about—a place for conversations about spiritual things. This study is recommended for people investigating Christianity for the first time or returning to church after an extended break.
The Absolute Basics of the Christian Faith
There are lots of things Christians can disagree about. But there are certain beliefs that we’ve all agreed on over centuries and across denominations. In this group study, we look at these key topics: God, Creation, the Incarnation, Salvation, the Holy Spirit, the Church, and Last Things. This 9-week study is recommended for people investigating Christianity, new to faith, or considering baptism. It’s also perfect for longer-term Christians wanting to have better faith discussions with others.
Reunion is a dynamic 9-week investigation of the most earth-shattering, piety-smashing, life-changing news ever. Dig into Scripture with Bruxy Cavey as he unfolds God’s message for the world. Learn why you shouldn't follow the Bible (but why you'll want to read it to learn how to follow Jesus). Scout out the real definitions of sin and salvation, which might surprise you. Discover your true citizenship in the Jesus nation. Glimpse a God who is love itself and who, like it or not, just can t stop thinking about you. Recommended for people investigating Christianity or new in their faith. Also recommended for longer-term Christians who want to be more confident when sharing the Gospel.
Reimagining the Way You Relate to God. Why are we failing to experience the true freedom of Christianity? Why are so many Christians disappointed by God and their journey with him? Exploring the biblical narrative alongside stories of faithful men and women throughout history, Skye Jethani demonstrates how we can stop living our life ‘under’, ‘over’, ‘from’, and ‘for’ God and start living in communion ‘with’ him.
Understanding Missions is a class offered by our Missions Department. During the class, you will learn everything about Missions at Port City and why we believe we are called to do Missions. This class is required for anyone going on a PC3 Short Term Mission.
Perspectives on the World Christian Movement
Perspectives is a fifteen week course designed around four vantage points or "perspectives" — Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God's global purpose. The Biblical and Historical sections reveal why our confidence is based on the historic fact of God's relentless work from the dawn of history until this day. The Cultural and Strategic sections underscore that we are in the midst of a costly, but very "do-able" task, confirming the Biblical and Historical hope. More
Financial Peace University
Basic financial management is a spiritual discipline. People who handle their money well tend to experience less stress, enjoy better relationships, become more disciplined in every area of life, and have more freedom to live generously. Financial Peace University teaches you to think about money differently, shows you how to budget, gives you the tools to pay off debt, and motivates you to act. This 9-week group study is truly life-changing – its power proven through the testimonies of many thousands of people worldwide.
When Helping Hurts
A doctor can make two mistakes when you are sick: only treating the symptoms of your condition rather than the underlying causes, or misdiagnosing you. In both cases, you won’t get better. And you might get worse. The same is true in our efforts to help the poor. If we only treat the symptoms of poverty or if we misdiagnose its root causes, we can actually hurt the poor in our well-intentioned efforts to help them. More
Spiritual gifts are special abilities given by God for Christian service. This online assessment tests for 16 common gifts. The results of this assessment may give you clues to how you can best serve the Church—the Body of Christ.
Get a concrete description of your personality type and why you do things the way you do. Remember that you are more than your 'personality type'. If you are a follower of Christ, the 'real you' includes who you are in Christ—the self the Holy Spirit is helping you to see and be. He shows us who we are in Christ—not just in theory, but for real!
Test your spiritual readiness to lead. All Christians are leaders in the sense that we all have been given influence.
